CHRISTMAS SPARKLE ORGAN CONCERT HEREFORD CATHEDRAL
29 November 2025
ADMISSION FREE - 1.15PM
The lunchtime performance on the cathedral’s historic Willis organ will feature a sparkling range of musical favourites for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Peter, who as Assistant Director of Music can be heard playing the organ for the cathedral’s daily services, will be visible to the audience on a large screen. He has also promised that the mighty organ console, with its four keyboards, thirty pedals and sixty-seven stops, will be festively decorated for the occasion.
Peter Dyke, Assistant Director of Music at Hereford Cathedral, said: “Music is such an evocative part of Christmas for us all and I love playing the familiar melodies, but also finding sparkling new arrangements of music for audiences to enjoy. This year I’ll include music by Bach, Vierne and more, but I’ll also evoke Vienna with Strauss’s Blue Danube Waltz and conjuring up a snowy landscape with Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride.
The organ at Hereford Cathedral is one of the best instruments in the country and a real asset to our city and county. It’s a huge pleasure to share its power and tonal colour with everyone.”
